CASE STUDY: TRINITY ANNUAL CONFERENCE
FOR THE GLOBAL METHODIST CHURCH
Elevating Tradition with Technology: Transforming Historic Spaces into Modern Event Venues
Our Mission: Seamlessly Integrating Innovation with Heritage
Project Overview
Space City was honored to provide comprehensive technical production services for the Trinity Annual Conference hosted by the Global Methodist Church. Held in a historic venue, this event required a delicate balance between maintaining the integrity of the space and integrating cutting-edge technology to deliver a seamless experience for both in-person and remote attendees.
Challenges and Objectives
The primary challenge of this event was to implement modern audiovisual solutions within a historic building, respecting its architectural significance while meeting the technical demands of a large-scale conference. Key performance indicators included:
- Maximizing seating capacity while maintaining unobstructed sightlines.
- Delivering high-quality audio-visual content both within the venue and to remote participants.
- Enhancing the ambient environment without detracting from the venue's historical aesthetics.
Conclusion
The Trinity Annual Conference was a resounding success, with Space City’s innovative solutions and meticulous attention to detail enhancing both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the event. By integrating advanced technology within the historic setting, we were able to deliver an immersive experience that resonated deeply with both in-room and remote attendees, solidifying our reputation as leaders in event production.
Staffing and Collaboration
Space City provided a highly skilled team, including a Lighting Designer, Video Director, Media & Graphics Operator, Streaming Content Manager, and Production Manager, supported by load-in and load-out crews. Our team worked in harmony with venue staff, church volunteers, and other vendors, ensuring a smooth operation from setup to execution. Special attention was given to minimizing seating and pathway obstructions, maximizing sight-lines, and ensuring all content was legible even from the farthest seats.
Infrastructure and Integration
We leveraged the venue's existing infrastructure, enhancing its capabilities without disrupting its historical essence. This included utilizing house cameras and integrating into the existing video switcher, router, and fiber ties, ensuring a seamless connection and workflow throughout the event.
High-Performance Projection in Challenging Conditions
Given the venue's high ambient light levels due to its large stained glass windows, we selected Barco UDX-4K32 projectors, known for their exceptional brightness and color accuracy. These projectors feature 4K UHD resolution and a powerful 31,000 lumens light output, ensuring that all displayed content was clear and vivid, even in challenging lighting conditions. The Constant Light Output (CLO) functionality of the projectors provided consistent brightness throughout the event, making them an ideal choice for this high-profile conference.
Projection and Display Technology
One of the standout features of this event was the architectural projection we provided for in-room attendees. This content was tailored in portrait orientation to align with the venue's design, serving dual purposes: iMAG video during worship sessions and displaying slide content, charts, photos, and graphics during business sessions.
Simultaneously, we catered to the remote audience by delivering content in a traditional 16x9 format via online live streams and overflow spaces. This dual-format delivery was efficiently managed through a PiscesLED video server, which offered rock-solid reliability and seamless content routing, controlled via a StreamDeck for precise sequencing.
Innovative Lighting Solutions
To meet the unique lighting requirements, we deployed Source Four LED Series 3 Daylight HDR fixtures from ETC for front lighting, ensuring proper illumination for video broadcasting. These fixtures were chosen for their high output and color accuracy, essential for delivering clear, natural-looking video content.
For environmental lighting, we used SGM P1 battery-driven LED wash lights to add vibrant color and ambiance to the stage. These lights played a pivotal role in enhancing the space, particularly by complementing the color palette of the stained glass windows. The wash lights beautifully illuminated the pipe organ and other architectural features, adding a modern touch while preserving the building's historical integrity.

Brandon, Chandler and their team truly put the "pro" in Space City Pro. They exceeded my every expectation to bring in the latest technology and put it to work beautifully in a historic, 100-year-old venue. The results impressed our clients and wowed 1,200 event attendees. During our three-day event, their team worked with deep knowledge and expertise, and they worked quickly to identify and resolve issues in real time. Rarely have I found a media vendor more personable and knowledgeable, integrating seamlessly into the larger team I had assembled. We experienced high value for the investment, and will continue to call on Space City as a trusted partner and friends in the business.
